Job Title: Marketing Executive

STEP has 20,000 members across 95 countries from a broad range of professional backgrounds, including lawyers, accountants, trust specialists and other practitioners in this area. 

Principal Accountabilities & Standards

To coordinate STEP’s marketing activity, covering events, qualifications and recruitment 

To maintain a professional inward and outward facing approach to colleagues, STEP members, and the public;  with an proactive, accessible, and constructive  manner

To prioritise and schedule work effectively to ensure that the most important tasks get done; and to anticipate problems and adjust the allocation of resources and time accordingly 

In fulfilling the above to represent STEP’s best interests at all times

Main Duties & Responsibilities

To devise marketing campaign plans for STEP events and qualifications and action the plans

When devising marketing campaign plans, the following are to be included: 

- Researching new publications to use and keeping records of media packs

- Planning timeline for marketing activity for STEP events

- Coordinating the media planning and buying process for the marketing campaigns

To assist in the creation and update of marketing collaterals and material e.g. brochures for events, flyers for qualifications, etc., working with the design agency 

To implement email marketing activity – includes creating promotional emails in email service provider software and managing the recipient lists to meet all data protection processes 

To keep records and produce reports showing the results of each marketing campaign 

Work with the events team to monitor event campaigns and keep track of delegate numbers for events

Work with our course provider to monitor delegate numbers on courses and update materials for STEP qualifications 

To assist with marketing research in areas such as member satisfaction surveys 

In addition to event and qualification marketing activity, to assist with marketing for member recruitment and retention and member services campaigns where necessary 

Liaise with all STEP departments to integrate marketing activities with individual departmental activities

To participate in regular departmental and cross departmental progress meetings

To remain current with STEP policies and procedures

Attend STEP events, committee meetings and functions as and when appropriate

Such other duties within the jobholder’s capability as may be required from time to time.

Job Title: Marketing Executive

Location: Central London

Hours of Work: 9.00am – 5.30pm (some flexibility provided)


A graduate with a marketing, communications or business degree, OR

A marketing related professional qualification, such as CIM Diploma or IDM Diploma 

Relevant Experience

A minimum of three years marketing experience, preferably with a membership organisation or educational organisation 

Experience in writing marketing copy 

Proven experience in development of marketing collateral and print production, including briefing and liaising with design agencies 

Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing marketing campaigns

Email marketing experience 

Experience of media planning and buying 


Excellent knowledge of marketing campaign planning and copywriting 

Excellent knowledge and experience of liaising with graphic design agencies and printers 

Knowledge of and practical experience for digital marketing techniques, including email marketing techniques 

High degree of IT literacy

Good knowledge of working for a membership or educational organisation or a training course provider 

Skills & Aptitudes

Ability to successfully undertake a range of concurrent projects on time and to budget

Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, members and suppliers 

Constructive & proactive team membership skills

Good analytical skills

High degree of initiative required 

Good written and oral communication skills 

Good proof reading skills
